Vitamins, minerals and trace elements – Just as you may have a vitamin or two every day it does help that your dog takes them too. They should be added to every dogs meal. You will have no trouble finding them in pet shops.
Protein – Meat, cottage cheese and fish are all good sources of protein. Also recommended is ground meat and boneless chicken. Your Labrador should have meals with anything between 25 to 30 percent protein.
Fats – Fats are a main source of energy for animals. We burn off fat when we do exercise and so do dogs. A stable diet should only contain around 5 percent fat. Younger Labradors do tend to be more energetic than older labs so you can add some extra fat by introducing a teaspoon of wheat-germ oil to meals.
Carbohydrates – Found in rice, corn, potatoes and noodles a Labradors diet should contain a high percentage of carbohydrates. Around 45 percent is a good measurement. You can add most carb suppliers to a dish with meat.
