Litter Training labrador puppies is great fun for all the family. It gives you and your labrador pup the chance to bond.
Litter training your puppy is a brilliant idea and the sooner you start the better. This kind of training requires alot of time and attention, this is the most important part of it. Without adequate time and attention you may never get your labrador properly trained.
However, if you do give your labrador puppy plenty of time and attention you will no doubt succeed and your puppy will be litter trained
What does this mean? Well, it means that you won’t have to worry about little surprises around the house when the guests are round. Also, you will be able to avoid walks in the middle of the night if its raining or snowing. Once more, you will be able to leave the house safe in the knowledge that your pup knows exactly where the bathroom is.
I’m guessing you think Litter Training is a great idea!
When litter training labrador puppies it is very important to be aware of the fact that they are like children. They need to be shown the ropes. But not in a nasty way. You should be strict but not violent. Using a stern voice, but not a shout is more than enough. Your labrador will understand straight away that your not happy.
Tone of voice plays an important role. Remember this and do not stray.
Litter Training labrador puppies should begin with a schedule being put in place. By having a schedule your labrador will begin to ‘eliminate’ at more or less the same times every day. This is great. You will soon know exactly when your dog needs the toilet.
Once you have the schedule in full working order wait for those moments when your labrador needs to ‘eliminate’ and rush him to the litter box. Keep him there until he eliminates and then give him loads of praise.
Begin using the litter box in a small room. This will mean that when you are not around you can restrict your labrador to a certain amount of access around the house. The less rooms that are open the less chance there is of an accident.
As your labrador becomes more accustomed to the training you can then increase the number of rooms available. Until, finally the entire house is open to him.
If, at any moment your labrador begins to ‘eliminate’ around the house you should return to the original space and begin the process again.
When litter training labrador puppies you should have alot of fun. Don’t be too hard on yourself or the puppy if things are going too slow. Enjoy the time you spend with your pup as they don’t stay that small forever!
